Center for Transition to Adult Health Care for Youth with Disabilities Launches New Website
The Center for Transition to Adult Health Care for Youth with Disabilities, a national resource center funded by ACL's Administration on Disabilities (AoD), has launched a new website to help young people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) direct their own transition to the adult health care system. The site also includes resources developed by Center partners, including Family Voices, Got Transition, SPAN Parent Advocacy Network, and two AoD-funded University Centers of Excellence in Development Disabilities (UCEDDs): the Institute for Human Development at University of Missouri-Kansas City and the Waisman Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Both of these UCEDDs have done extensive work in the field of health care transitions for youth with I/DD.

Inaugural Meeting of AUCD's Migration & Disability Special Interest Group
AUCD is happy to announce that during this year's AUCD Conference: "Emerging Leader Shaping The Future."The network's newest special interest group(SIG), the Migration and Disability SIG, held its inaugural meeting on the afternoon of Tuesday, November 7th. Convened and chaired by Eva Weiss of Temple University, the group aims to address a gap in knowledge and expertise at the crossroads of migration and disability.

This year's calendar continues our tradition of coupling each work with an inspirational quote reflecting the values of the IOD. Calendars are printed in full color; 11.75" x 11.75".

UI REACH Virtual Classes
UI REACH, a program for young adults with disabilities at the University of Iowa, is excited to announce two virtual courses that will be offered for the spring 2024 semester. The two courses that will be offered are "Social Skills in the Workplace" and "Healthier You." Classes will be held weekly with an instructor using an online platform. Students will be able to work collaboratively with their peers to achieve the class goals.

Vaccine Outreach Toolkit Update
AUCD has added new resources for winter COVID-19 and flu vaccine recommendations. Resources include graphics, drafted captions, and alt text. These resources are supported by the Administration for Community Living (ACL, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)) through USAging as part of a financial assistance award to USAging totaling $74,999,835 with 100 percent funding by ACL/HHS. The contents are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily represent the official view of, nor an endorsement, by USAging, ACL/HHS, or the U.S. Government.

New Leadership Opportunity for Youth with Disabilities - The National Center for Disability, Equity, and Intersectionality is currently accepting recommendations for Youth Equity Ambassadors. The National Center for Disability, Equity, and Intersectionality is part of the University of Cincinnati Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCCEDD).

Now Enrolling: Inclusive Education Pre-K-12 Micro-Credential
The University of Maine Center for Community Inclusion and Disability Studies (ME UCEDD) was part of a collaborative team of faculty and staff with expertise in inclusive education that has developed an Inclusive Education Pre-K-12 Micro-Credential with funding from a competitive 2022-2023 mini-grant awarded by the University of Maine System Micro-Credential Initiative.

2024 EHDI Conference Scholarships for LEND Audiology Trainees
Deadline: February 16th at 11:59pm
AUCD is offering scholarships to support LEND audiology trainees in attending the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Annual Conference on March 17-19, 2024. All current LEND audiology trainees, including those in their externship year, are eligible to apply.

AUCD Website Review Committee
AUCD is seeking applicants to join the Website Review Committee. The Website Review Committee will serve as an oversight role for the redesign of www.aucd.org. Committee members will work closely with the Marketing and Communications and Web IT teams to discuss the design and development of the website. Our goal is to ensure that the redesign is fully accessible and meets the needs of AUCD's members and partners.

The Association of University Centers on Disabilities Joins Vaccination Campaign Focusing on Older Adults and People with Disabilities
The Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) is excited to join the You've Got This campaign to vaccinate older adults and people with disabilities. Launched by the USAging-led Aging and Disability Vaccination Collaborative during cold and flu season, AUCD is part of a push to connect older adults and people with disabilities to COVID-19 and flu vaccines

In Memoriam: Dr. Steven E. Brown
Aloha, it was with great sadness and heavy heart to hear this past week of the death of Dr. Steven Brown. Steve served for many years as a professor of Disability Studies at the Center on Disability Studies, University of Hawai'i at Mānoa. He was lead investigator on numerous projects working to improve the quality-of-life experience for persons with disabilities across the globe. Further, Steve was respected internationally as an activist and advocate for the rights of all persons with disabilities.

Iowa Creates a New Vaccine Clinic for Patients with Unique Needs
Iowa's Center for Disabilities and Development (CDD) has a new vaccine clinic for children and some adults with unique needs, including sensory issues, anxiety, and other disabilities. Earlier this year, the mother of a child with autism got in touch with CDD, looking for a place to get her child vaccinated against Covid-19. CDD clinical nurse manager Sheree Murphy, RN, took up the challenge, and enlisted the help of UCEDD program coordinator, Anne Crotty, MPH.
